Everything is Alive

Do you ever wonder what an object would say if it could speak? I have. It’s the basic premise for Everything is Alive, a relatively new podcast that I’m obsessed with. It’s produced by Ian Chillag, who has also produced gems like Wait, Wait… Don’t Tell Me and Fresh Air with Terry Gross.

Each episode is structured as an unscripted interview in which the subject is an inanimate object. A few of my favorites: Sean, a subway seat, and Chioke, a grain of sand.

The show is refreshingly quirky, honest, and often makes me wonder: What kinds of lives do our objects live? What kind of burden do we inflict upon them? How do they outlive us?
